Iasmina-Katia Oțoiu was born at Cluj on 3 September 2001.
She had her debut in 2013, when her story ’Lili Rosa’s Double Life’ was among the winners of a contest at Iași and published. The same year, her story, ’The First Book Found in the Grass’ was published in the collective volume ’What’s Up With Reading? Juniors’ by Arthur publishers.
In 2014 she won the first prize at the ’Writer for a Day’ competition with the story ’Animal Instinct’…
and she also won the first prize at a county-level contest, ’Otilia Cazimir, the poet of simple souls’ with a few ludic poems about cats.
In 2018, she won first prize at a contest dedicated to Romania’s national poet, Mihai Eminescu, with the poem ’A Dusk Moment’s Ephemeris’.
Iasmina started writing ’The Vampire’s Reunion’ when 11 years old, in 2013, finding inspiration from some of her older stories. After rewriting the manuscript countless times, she finished the novel in the autumn of 2015.
She was active on her book blog, ’What Iasmina Read — Books for Lads and Lasses’. She wrote there about more than 160 books written by more than 100 authors and also published there a few original stories.
Iasmina is an avid reader, as you can see in her reading challenges (81 books in 2014 and 65 in 2015) or from this earlier list. She is a lover of cats and personality tests.
In the present, Iasmina — a student at ’Mihai Eminescu’ National College inBaia Mare — is working on another fantasy novel, ’Amnesia and War’, as well as other secret projects, of which some in English.
