About the Author

Ias­mi­na-Katia Oțoiu was born at Cluj on 3 Sep­tem­ber 2001. 

She had her debut in 2013, when her sto­ry ’Lili Rosa’s Dou­ble Life’ was among the win­ners of a con­test at Iași and pub­lished. The same year, her sto­ry, ’The First Book Found in the Grass’ was pub­lished in the col­lec­tive vol­ume ’What’s Up With Read­ing? Juniors’ by Arthur publishers. 

In 2014 she won the first prize at the ’Writer for a Day’ com­pe­ti­tion with the sto­ry ’Ani­mal Instinct’… 

and she also won the first prize at a coun­ty-lev­el con­test, ’Otil­ia Caz­imir, the poet of sim­ple souls’ with a few ludic poems about cats.

In 2018, she won first prize at a con­test ded­i­cat­ed to Romania’s nation­al poet, Mihai Emi­nes­cu, with the poem ’A Dusk Moment’s Ephemeris’. 

Ias­mi­na start­ed writ­ing ’The Vampire’s Reunion’ when 11 years old, in 2013, find­ing inspi­ra­tion from some of her old­er sto­ries. After rewrit­ing the man­u­script count­less times, she fin­ished the nov­el in the autumn of 2015. 

She was active on her book blog, ’What Ias­mi­na Read — Books for Lads and Lass­es’. She wrote there about more than 160 books writ­ten by more than 100 authors and also pub­lished there a few orig­i­nal stories. 

Ias­mi­na is an avid read­er, as you can see in her read­ing chal­lenges (81 books in 2014 and 65 in 2015) or from this ear­li­er list. She is a lover of cats and per­son­al­i­ty tests. 

In the present, Ias­mi­na — a stu­dent at ’Mihai Emi­nes­cu’ Nation­al Col­lege inBa­ia Mare — is work­ing on anoth­er fan­ta­sy nov­el, ’Amne­sia and War’, as well as oth­er secret projects, of which some in English.
