What do MA students say about KidLit

WHY KID LIT?

It was a great chance to practise critical reading and critical thinking. The discussions we had after reading each book were really engaging and dynamic.

I have always looked forward to coming back to classes after a long and tiring week. The courses we had were easy to follow and they were about things we had really been interested in.

The literature that is called “children’s literature” is not as childish as you may think. Every book we have read during these two years had very powerful messages for us as (young) adults.

Children’s literature comes in all shapes and sizes, but on average it tends to be shorter than literary fiction, making it possible to read a full book on a weekend getaway, while still making time for things that you like.

You discover thousands of amazing books that you may definitely want read to your own children for their personal development.

I am an English teacher and I found the books that I came across during this MA course very useful to use in class. Some of them were actually written with a didactic purpose, others could easily be adapted for the pupils’ needs.

You have the opportunity to meet great people (teachers and colleagues alike) and share personal experiences with them over a coffee.

The books you read often remind you of your childhood and teenage years. It’s very comforting if you are not ready to fully embrace your boring adult life.

We have discovered skills/abilities that we did not know we had, we have overcome our fears, we have laughed and cried and it has been an experience we would never forget.

KIDLIT - The child inside is always hungry for more. Kidlit offers it all, knowledge, challenge, power. I chose this master's degree course because I wanted to improve myself as an English teacher - and I did so much more than that: I improved myself as a person!

This is not one of those courses where you just apply and then get a diploma: this is for yourself! You apply, learn, improve and then get a diploma, if you deserve it!

About Dr. Adrian Otoiu: Mr. Otoiu is a high quality teacher, the best teacher I have ever had. The discussions of the books in his course are always upraising, every student is given an equal chance to participate and develop. Every clever intervention is fairly marked and Mr. Otoiu has shown us that every book, no matter how interesting its subject is, can become a debatable topic and is worth reading! Mr. Otoiu has a great influence in his students' mental and career development! I can't wait for the English Doctorate in Baia Mare!

About Dr. Ligia Tomoiaga: An immense culture and methodologically gifted, Mrs. Tomoiaga has the ability of teaching a semester subject in one single class. She can clarify a whole history in a few words; through her incredible discourse she can open and completely change her students' minds. A really worthy teacher! I am honoured to have been her student!

About Dr. Horea Nascu: An absolute master of English language! Clear accent, great communicative discourse and high interest of sharing his every knowledge with his students, Mr. Nascu is an extremely dedicated teacher! Always ready with technological support to ease the thematic approach, original teaching style and professional attitude!

I don't know what kind of teachers Cluj has - and frankly I don't care! I've had the best! There isn't a single minute of regret for choosing KIDLIT - it was the best choice I could have ever taken for my own development! The English Department in Baia Mare makes up for the whole University in this town!
